Good For Nothing

Matthew 5:13-16

What good is seasoning, that has no flavor? Would you sprinkle meats with herbs and spices that taste like nothing? As believers, we are the salt of the earth. Just as salt flavors, preserves, and stabilizes meats and other foods, those who profess holiness are to do likewise in the earth. The duty of the church is, to add flavor to dull situations or circumstances, preserve the word of God in our hearts, and stabilize our foundation in the Lord through the holy Spirit. So, the next time someone says, “you’re being a little salty”, simply reply, “I’m just doing my job.”

Instructions For Daily Living

Hebrews 13:1-8

1 Let brotherly love continue.

2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

3 Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.

8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Missed Opportunity

1 Thessalonians 5

How many opportunities have you passed on, to share the goodness of God’s salvation with others? I’ll be the first to admit, I’ve missed countless opportunities to tell others how amazing, and important it is, to submit to the authority of the almighty God.

It’s becoming more apparent that time on this earth is fleeting fast. Rather than allocate all our time accumulating earthly treasures and enjoying worldly pleasures, we should dive deep into learning how to live according to the will of God, who will soon judge the living, and the dead.

God cares very little about the affairs of this present world. In fact, while many tune in to major sporting events and entertainment venues, God is concerned about men’s souls. Money, fame, and status can do nothing to gain access into God’s eternal kingdom, but believing in the Lord, Jesus Christ, is all it takes.

While we may not be able to reach millions, God gives us time and opportunity to witness to those in our small circles. Take time daily to tell someone how good the Lord has been to you, because it may be just what someone needs to hear, to bring them out of darkness, and into God’s marvelous light!

Mind Your Business

1 Thessalonians 4:11-12

“And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you. That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.” (vs. 11-12)

“Focus on your own business, and leave mine alone. Only then will you begin to understand where you belong.” -Ell

Keep Hope Alive!

Isaiah 6:1-5

The world has reached an unprecedented level of spiritual immorality. The Bible records instances when God judged entire nations of people harshly, for going against His commands, and entertaining profane and blasphemous behaviors. God hates sin, and gives no place for it, but men today seem to have literally lost their moral compass, and given in to all manner of evil and wickedness. Even some who claim to be children of God, have been tossed about, and soiled by false doctrines, causing them to walk not after the Spirit, but after the flesh. In the midst of living in a world where holiness has seemingly lost its relevance, the body of Christ must not lose sight of the thrice holy God. God is holy, meaning He is pure, morally perfect, and righteous, and He expects the same behavior to be represented by those who have been redeemed, and set free from sin. In those moments when we begin to lose sight of how immensely powerful and perfect God is, take a second to graze through the Bible, and build your faith and hope on the eternal, and all-knowing Father. The world can be a scary sight to behold at times, but knowing who holds the world in their hand, should restore the confidence many who trust in Him may have lost.
