Liberty!

Galatians 5

Paul distinguished between freedom to sin and freedom to serve. Freedom to sin is no freedom at all, because it enslaves you to satan, others, or your own evil desires. The flesh is not a reference to the body, but to the sinful nature that attempts to use our bodies to lead us into sin. People who are slaves to sin are not free to live righteous lives. Christians, by contrast, should not be slaves to sin, because they are free to do right, and glorify God through their actions.

Psalm 37:23

Why do good people follow bad men? Being good, doesn’t exclude one from making unwise decisions. On the contrary, good and bad people alike, are susceptible to falling into error. Evil men thrive on manipulating others, in order to gain support for their wicked agendas. The more people who fall into the snare of deception, the greater the chance of increasing evil men’s influence. The key to avoid becoming a negative statistic, and joining yourself to an unhealthy cause is, place your trust and hope in the God who created all things, rather than a man or woman who has the power to create nothing.

Get To Work

1 Corinthians 7:17-24

Often, we are so concerned about what we could be doing for God somewhere else, we miss great opportunities right where we are. Paul said, when someone becomes a Christian, he should usually continue with the work he has previously been doing – provided it isn’t immoral or unethical. Every job can become Christian work when you realize, the purpose of your life is to honor, serve, and speak out for Christ. God has purposely placed you where you are, so look carefully for opportunities to serve him there.

What Is Love?

2 John

The love Christians should have for each other, is a recurrent theme throughout the New Testament. Yet, love for one’s neighbor, is an Old Testament command, first appearing in Leviticus 19:18. There are many ways we can show love, including avoiding prejudice and discrimination, accepting people, listening to others, helping those in need, giving to the less fortunate, and keeping our opinions of others to ourselves. Just knowing God’s commandment to love is not enough. We must put it into practice, in order to truly satisfy God’s will for our lives.
